The list
You killed a C. Try this.
A C wants a rhythm and tells you loudly when it isn’t getting one — a fiddle leaf fig, a calathea, a fern, an alocasia. Losing one says nothing about you. Try an A, keep it alive for three months, and go back to the C later if you still want it.
ZZ Plant$32
The opposite of a fern. Wants nothing.
Snake Plant$25
Forgives everything except a wet pot.
Tells you when it’s thirsty and recovers when you notice.
Spider Plant$16
Bounces back from almost anything within the hour.
Peperomia$20
A B, but a forgiving one — it stores its own water.
Grades and light numbers follow the PILF Scale. “Not on a PILF shelf” means any plant shop has it — buy it there, and use the scale to know what you’re getting into.
